Project Name: Montego Bay Sports Complex

Location: Montego Bay, St. James

A green field integrated major sporting facility for Western Jamaica, comprising spectator stands, an irrigated football field, a synthetic 400 m track, and parking facility, with space planned for a tennis complex.

Project elements included; A 7,500 seat spectator stand, founded on driven concrete piles, with a structural steel cantilever roof, stadium with a 400m “Mundo” track, an irrigated football field, irrigation water being supplied from the nearby Pyes River.  Development of the site that is located in the flood-prone low-lands in Montego Bay, Land reclamation and drainage works for parking and roadways,  Sewerage and water distribution, networks,  Ancillary works include 30 m high event lighting towers on piled foundations, and hard courts and fencing.  Construction of the final phase of construction for the spectator stands was procured using a Design Build Contract.

NOWAL’s services included; investigations, data collection, topographic and soil surveys, flood  risk assessment. Preparation of preliminary and working drawings, preparation of construction documents. Conducted tender  and evaluation process, negotiation and recommendation for award for the Design Build Contract for the spectator stands. Acted as "Engineer" under FIDIC Contract, for the provision of construction inspection, contract administration and resident engineering.
