Project Name: Port Antonio Water, Sewerage and Drainage

Location: Portland, Jamaica

A comprehensive infrastructure upgrading programme for the resort town of Port Antonio, comprising a new sewerage collection and treatment system; improvements to the water supply system, with emphases on the reduction of non-revenue water (NRW); and upgrading of the storm water drainage system to alleviate the perennial folding problems in the town.  The works comprised: a 10 km sewerage collection and transmission system, with three (3) main pumping stations, a sewage treatment plant with a constructed wetland discharging into an environmentally sensitive area; NRW works, including leak detection and repair, mains replacement, and expansion of an existing deep well field; upgrading of the existing storm water drainage system.

NOWAL’s services included; investigations, data collection and survey activities, confirmation of existing pipe sizes, materials, lengths and locations, confirmation of size and location of existing service reservoirs, pumps, and water treatment facilities; evaluation of condition of existing assets and utilization, preparation of preliminary and working drawings, Design and Detailed reports, preparation of tender documents.
